We’ve all heard of “self-limiting beliefs,” right? The idea that the way we think about ourselves or the world is what is holding us back.
Oh. And don’t even get me started on self-criticism.
Everyone struggles with negative self-criticism, at least some of the time. And the bigger your goals are, the bigger your struggle is likely to be!
So many people have tried affirmations and mantras (including me), only to find that their negative self-talk gets even worse.
That’s because most affirmations are flimsy, and can’t hold up to the power that self-criticism brings their way.
I’ve created an easy-peasy lemon-squeezy process to creating Self-Liberating Belief statements that completely shut down self-criticism. These Self-Liberating Beliefs (SLBs) work!
👉 “I’m more empowering of myself. I’m more conscious in my self-care.”
👉 “It’s the first time I feel really strong! I feel very empowered. Very clear.”
👉 “It feels big and expansive, in an invigorating way. Feels solid. And true!”
👉 “Staying strong within my own compass. I don’t get pulled off center by my partner.”
I discovered this formula when I was struggling to come up with an affirmation that actually felt, well, affirming.
See, most of the time, affirmations just don’t work for me. There is always a part of me that just isn’t buying it.
So I had to come up with something I could really believe in.
A statement so powerful that my inner critics were immediately silenced.
My first effort went into my book Your Personality and You: A Workbook to Better Understand Yourself and Who You Want to Be.
But it wasn’t until I started creating courses that I finally stumbled onto a formula not only for creating Self-Liberating Beliefs, but for making them elastic enough to fit different circumstances & goals.
